|Fiftieth Birthday Party|
From The Tennessean, May 20, 1998, p.3, in the "Brad About You" column:|
He really rolled with it, baby.
Part-time Nashville resident Steve Winwood partied hard Monday (May 18) for his 50th birthday party, flying his band over from England and renting out the Lower Broadway bar Seanachie for a bash.
Steve packed the place with an electic [sic] crowd of 300 folks, including wife Eugenia's Tennessee pals, their church friends and music biz people.
Steve sang three or four songs with his band, including "Roll With It", and partygoers said they were awesome. Others who entertained included Delbert McClinton, Emmylou Harris, Bekka Bramlett, John Cowan, saxy Jim Horn and Felix Cavaliere of the Rascals, and they played till the wee hours. In the crowd: Christian rocker Ashley Cleveland, MCA bigwig Tony Brown and a proverbial host of others.
Oh, but that wasn't enough: Steve and Carlos Santana and friends headed to The Trace for a night/morning cap.
No word on whether they ended up at Waffle House.
